Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect when you use gbcnews.tv, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Who we are
The controller of personal data for gbcnews.tv is Adrien Koo, trading as gbcnews.tv, 7 Plateau de Frontenex, 1208 Geneva, Switzerland .
Privacy contact: social@gbcnews.tv. If we are required to appoint an EU Article 27 representative, that representative is Adrien Koo, Plateau de Frontenex, 1208 Geneva, Switzerland.
What this policy covers
It covers the public website at gbcnews.tv (including Watch Live, articles, archive, accounts and live chat). The separate operator console and studio systems are for operators; this policy focuses on visitor and member data on the public site.
Data we collect
- Account data — email address, display name / username, and authentication identifiers when you create an account (email/password, Google, Apple, or X sign-in via Supabase Auth).
- Live chat messages — username, message body, airing/context identifiers, and timestamps, stored when you post in Watch Live chat.
- Article comments — if you comment on articles, the comment body and account link associated with your profile.
- Launch list (optional) — if you join the launch list on our coming-soon page or an outreach hello page, or ask to be notified about a coming-soon product in the shop, we store your email address, the sign-up time, where you signed up, the version of the notice you agreed to, your browser’s user-agent and, if a campaign link brought you to the site, its campaign codes (for example utm_source=twitch — never your name) in our database (Supabase), with your consent. We first send one email asking you to confirm (double opt-in); only a confirmed address receives anything else, and we use it only to email you when GBC goes live and with launch news, or once when that product can be ordered. We keep a one-way fingerprint of the confirmation link, never the link itself. Every email has a one-click link to leave the list, or email social@gbcnews.tv and we will delete your address.
- GBC Studio (optional) — if you reserve a show, we store the show details you enter (published on its page) and your email address (never published); if you join a reserved show’s waitlist, we store your email address and the sign-up time, in our database (Supabase). We use the address to send one confirmation email, and later one email when GBC Studio opens (show owners) or when that show’s first broadcast is scheduled (waitlist). To cancel a reservation or leave a waitlist, reply to any of those emails or write to social@gbcnews.tv and we will delete your address.
- Technical / usage data — IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and similar logs generated by our hosts (e.g. Vercel) in the normal course of serving the site.
- Analytics (only if you allow cookies) — aggregated and cookied measurement via Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity when those services are configured and you consent. See the Cookie Policy.
- Consent preference — your cookie choices stored locally in your browser (key gbc-consent-v2; legacy gbc-consent-v1 may still be read once during migration).
- Campaign source (only if you allow analytics) — if a link with campaign codes (utm_source, utm_medium …) brought you here, your browser keeps those codes and the page you landed on for up to 30 days (local storage key gbc-first-touch-v1), so a launch-list sign-up or a GBC Studio reservation can be credited to that campaign. Without analytics consent they are kept in the page’s memory only and go no further than a form you submit. They never contain your name or address.
- On-device personalization (optional) — if you allow Personalization, a short list of recently read stories may be kept in your browser’s local storage only. That list is not uploaded to GBC and is not attached to your account.
We do not ask for date of birth. You must be at least 16 to create an account (see Terms of Use).
Why we use it (purposes and legal bases)
- Provide the service — accounts, sign-in, Watch Live, chat, comments (performance of a contract / legitimate interests in operating the channel).
- GBC Studio — keep your reservation or waitlist place and send the emails you asked for (performance of a contract / your request).
- Security and abuse prevention — rate limits, fraud and spam controls, moderation of chat (legitimate interests).
- Measure how the site and stream are used — GA4 and Clarity when you consent (consent).
- On-device suggestions — reorder local “for you” hints from your reading history only when you consent to Personalization (consent).
- Comply with law — respond to lawful requests (legal obligation).
Live chat
Chat messages are stored in our database (Supabase), associated with the airing and your account. Rate limiting may use Redis or an in-memory fallback; that layer does not replace message storage.
Moderation is performed by human operators (hide, flag, mute). We do not currently apply automated AI content moderation to chat. Retention: kept until the related airing is deleted.
Analytics and cookies
When enabled by configuration, we may load Google Analytics 4 (Consent Mode v2) and Microsoft Clarity. Advertising storage and ad personalization signals are permanently denied. Clarity loads only after you accept analytics cookies. Declining leaves cookieless / anonymous signals only where the product supports them. Personalization is a separate optional category and stays on-device. Details and withdrawal: Cookie Policy and the “Cookie choices” control in the footer.
Processors and transfers
- Supabase — authentication and application data (including chat).
- Vercel — hosting and delivery of the website.
- Google — Google Analytics 4 (when configured and consented); Google OAuth if you sign in with Google.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple if you choose that sign-in method (Apple may provide a private relay email).
- X (Twitter) — Sign in with X if you choose that sign-in method.
- Microsoft — Microsoft Clarity (when configured and consented).
- Resend — delivers GBC Studio confirmation emails and the launch list’s confirmation email (when configured).
Supabase project region: Switzerland. Some processors may process data outside your country; where required we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) as provided by those vendors. Additional processors: none beyond the list above.
Shop and payments
The merch shop is not open. We do not process payment card data on gbcnews.tv today. When a store launches, this policy will name the merchant of record and payment/fulfillment processors.
Retention
- Account data — while your account remains open, and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for security or legal claims.
- Chat — kept 30 days after the related airing is deleted.
- Analytics — per Google / Microsoft product retention settings for our properties.
- Server logs — according to our host’s and our operational needs, typically short-lived.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact social@gbcnews.tv. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Children
Accounts are for people aged 16 or over. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 16. If you believe we hold such data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may be highlighted on the site.
